PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Montepulciano has a very good transport link. The closest airports to Montepulciano are the Florence - Amerigo Vespucci -Peretola- (120 Km) and the Rome's one - Fiumicino (207 Km). A little bit farer but also possible is the Pisa - Galileo Galilei's airport (217 Km).
coming from Florence:
- BY TRAIN - From the Amerigo Vespucci airport you have to take a taxi to the Firenze S.M.N train station and then the train to Chiusi Chianciano Terme. The Chiusi-Chianciano Terme railway station is on the route Milano-Bologna-Firenze-Roma, halfway between Florence and Rome; it can be easily reached both from Florence and Rome in about an hour and forty minute. In front of the Chiusi train station there is the LFI bus stop to go to Montepulciano.
- BY BUS - From the Amerigo Vespucci airport you have to take a taxi to the LFI bus station located in Piazza Adua 2, Firenze (in front of the Firenze S.M.N. train station square). From there, you can take a direct bus to Montepulciano (1h 30') - usually you have to change bus at Bettolle but there is always the bus from Bettolle to Montepulciano waiting for your bus is coming from Florence.
- BY CAR - At the Amerigo Vespucci airport there are different car rental that you can choose. A very good road map to plan your trip by car is the Michelin Guide: is giving you detailed information about the best route, the distance and the time needed.
You have to drive down on the A1 Highway (Firenze-Roma) and exit at the Valdichiana exit. Then follow the indication to Montepulciano. The distance between the Florence's Airport and Montepulciano is 130 Km (approximately 1h 30' by car).
coming from Rome:

- BY BUS - From the Galileo Galilei airport an excellent bus network provides an easy access from Pisa Airport to Florence S.M. Novella Station (approximately 70'). In front of the Florence station (Piazza Adua 2), there is located the LFI bus station where you can take a direct bus to Montepulciano (1h 30') - usually you have to change bus at Bettolle but there is always the bus from Bettolle to Montepulciano waiting for your bus is coming from Florence.

The distance between the Pisa's Airport and Montepulciano is 217 Km (approximately 2h 15' by car).
